Holidays in Historic Concordia Neighborhood

The holidays were happy in Historic Concordia Neighborhood Inc. (HCNI). The 25 year old neighborhood association has been hosting an annual holiday lights competition for nearly as many years. All neighbors, including rental property owners are automatically entered into the “competition” when decorating their properties in December, with judging being completed on the caroling night.

I was lucky enough to join the group with snow falling on Friday. December 23. It provided a perfect setting for the Historic Concordia's annual Christmas caroling event. The Greater Utopian Church open it's doors to gather and rehearse before heading out for holiday cheer.

The group of 15 adults and children, including church members, headed to the Schuster Mansion where we were treated with warm wassail from owners Rick and Laura Sue Mosier. Texas Bufkin opened her doors, already hosting a gathering with musicians, who gladly accompanied the group helping the carolers along. We made a few more musical stops before returning to the Greater Utopian church for fellowship with cookies and punch.

Be sure to go to the Historic Concordia website at HCNI.org or join the HCNI Facebook page at Historic Concordia Inc.. you will learn more about it's history, homes and annual tour coming up on June 17, 2017.
