Andrew Trumbull, community safety coordinator, helped with construction on Saturday January 14, 2017. Volunteers from the greater Milwaukee area worked on cabinetry, installed fixtures, removed porch pillars, and laid flooring. This was the first Habitat Build for Barb Scotty, community engagement coordinator at Near West Side Partners. As a resident in the area, she is honored to help improve the lives of others so close to her own home.

The Americorps team went to work MLK day. They focused on two homes with guidance from Habitat staff. Floors were cleaned and evaluated for replacement due to damage. Fixtures were hung, stairs painted, walls were patched, and windows completed. Bethany Lutheran Church opened their doors to volunteers working at other homes.
