Evicted Exhibition National Tour: Grand Open & Volunteer Opportunity

Grand Opening and Volunteer Opportunity of the Evicted Exhibition National Tour

Based on Matthew Desmond’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Evicted, will be presented at the Mobile Design Box from June 21st through September 30th

Come join us at the eye-opening Evicted exhibition that will begin its’ national tour next week, Friday June 21st, at the Mobile Design Box in the Near West Side. This exhibition is inspired by Matthew Desmond’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book about eviction in Milwaukee. Evicted welcomes visitors to see firsthand the intimate, powerful yet painful process of low-income renter eviction through data developed by Desmond’s Eviction Lab, as well as feature original photography and audio recordings.

This exhibition will be free to the public and will be on display from June 21st through

September 30th: Fridays 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays 10-4 p.m. The Near West Side and Milwaukee communities invites the public to come celebrate Evicted exhibit’s grand opening next Friday, June 21 from 5-9 p.m. at the Mobile Design Box, located at 753 North 27th Street.

Additionally, The Near West Side Partners Arts Initiative is looking for passionate volunteers to help in the gallery during open hours who are able to sit and welcome guests to the exhibit. Extra brownie points given to those who explain the exhibit to others, we want to spark conversation and encourage curiosity! Again, starting June 21st, the national touring exhibit Evicted will be hosted in the Mobile Design Box, located 753 North 27th Street at the corner of Wells and 27th. Open hours will be Fridays 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays 10-4 p.m. (click this link to sign up!: Evicted Exhibit @ the Mobile Design Box).

The Near West Side would like to acknowledge and thank the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Zilber Family Foundation, and anonymous donors for making the local Evicted exhibit come to life. Also to Wiegand Enterprises for providing the exhibit space.
