Power of the Partnership: Captain Jeffrey Norman
The importance of community police relationships is at the forefront of any community's mind and in light of recent national stories that have forced many to pay closer attention including in the City of Milwaukee, it is encouraging to see how the Near West Side has and continues to benefit from leaders like Captain Jeffrey Norman of District #3.
Captain Norman plays a very active role in engaging the community and forging valuable partnerships. You may catch him knitting with a grandmother at National Night Out, walking the beat with the local alderperson or attending the many meetings to push and develop the necessary dialogue to improve our community, he is a strong believer in community police.
The Near West Side has benefitted from his leadership on many fronts. He has led community discussion with ex-offenders at the Offender Check-In. Providing these young men, many who are African American, guidance and leadership.
The Captain has worked to stay in communication with the NWSP team working with the NWSP leadership, staff and the many residents throughout our target area.
He shows "servant leadership" and that might be expected from this Marquette University Law graduate. He is kind, respectful and has a clear appreciation and understanding of the role he is plays in making the Near West Side and the entirety of District safe for all people.
A humble yet direct leader he also provides invaluable advice on the programming and activities planned by NWSP making sure that all are safe.
