ORP Update

Oconomowoc Residential Programs presented their case for a 50 unit, youth residential care center (see this link) at 2801 W. Wisconsin Avenue at the Board of Zoning and Appeals on February 9th.

The hearing allowed for testimony and numerous individuals testified as to why the proposed center would not be the best and highest use for this location in the Near West Side. Testimony came from Ald. Robert Bauman, State Rep. Evan Goyke, Rick Wiegand (Business Improvement District #10) and various residents like Charlie and Joyce, Pat, Carolina, Bob, and many others.

Issues of concern included the abundance of nonprofits in the Near West Side, safety and security, community engagement, green space, square footage per youth and, much more.

BOZA voted to move the item into an administrative review session, which allows the board to review all associated case files and deliberate prior to making a decision. More to come.
